7th July 2006 – A ceremony to celebrate the installation of "Advisory Professor" to Mr. M.T. Lee, Group Chairman of Lee Kum Kee and the Opening of "Lee Man Tat Bio-Medical Science Library" was held in the Main Building of Beijing Tsinghua University.

At the ceremony hosted by Tsinghua Vice President Mr. Zhang Fengchang, Mr. M.T. Lee, Group Chairman of Lee Kum Kee, and Mr. Gu Binglin, President of Tsinghua University, delivered speeches, respectively. Over 400 guests, including the former Vice Minister of Education Mr. Zhou Yuanqing, attended the event.

Mr. Lee said: "Everyone at Lee Kum Kee holds our corporate value – Considering Other's Interest First. Amid our rapid and continuous business growth, we're committed to rewarding the community." On behalf of Tsinghua University, President Gu expressed his gratitude to Mr. Lee for his support and awarded a letter of appointment to Mr. Lee. Speaking at the ceremony, President Gu said: "We admire Mr. M.T. Lee for his outstanding business achievements and his dedicated support to education as well as Tsinghua. As a result, we have decided to invite Mr. Lee to be the Advisory Professor of Tsinghua."

Mr. M.T. Lee is a renowned entrepreneur in Hong Kong. With constant entrepreneurship spirit, he continues to build the company and develop an ethnic Chinese brand that has become a household name across the world. Mr. Lee has a strong belief in rewarding the community and considering other's interest first. While expanding his business, he's committed to supporting the educational needs and philanthropy activities. Mr. Lee and his family members have donated over 70 million yuan to establish primary and secondary schools in China. Lee Kum Kee gave 30 million yuan worth materials to the frontline people when China was suffered from the flooding in 1998.

In collaboration with Tsinghua, Mr. M.T. Lee donated HK$10 million to build the Lee Man Tat Bio-Medical Science Library. Located in Zone B of the Academic Building of the School of Medicine, the library is in the western district of Tsinghua campus. With a gross floor area of 4,000 square meters, this three-storey building consists of reading room and multimedia library (1/F), periodicals library (2/F), conference and meeting rooms (3/F). The library will play a vital role in facilitating the medical research work at Tsinghua.

Tsinghua President Gu and Mr. Lee officiated the unveiling ceremony and visited the Lee Man Tat Bio-Medical Science Library.
